I'm a posting maniac tonight. See, I'm always complaining I don't have anything to write about.(Though I am very much howling into a void with this blog. I have taken to posting links on Facebook to get my husband and friends to read it :(.) And then I get reminded that we're always doing things, we always have plans. Last weekend we went to see The Chameleons (touring under ChameleonsVox,) went to dinner, planned our save the dates for our vow renewal, I cleaned the house and went to yoga. This weekend we're headed to the HP Lovecraft Film Festival and meet up with friends. SEE I HAVE A LIFE.
So I thought I'd write about that instead of just whining about stuff.
But a small part of me is still stuck as 12 year old Tiffany. And if the Internet is anything to go by, so are a lot of other people. My regression started with The Dairi Burger, a blog dedicated to dissecting the wonder that is Sweet Valley High and Francine Pascal. There I read reviews written by a woman about my age with a perspective not unlike my own on books I voraciously read as a tween. Beautiful stuff.
And now, blessing upon blessing, she's started writing about 21 Jump Street. Yet another thing that sucked me in as a tweeny. Those heady days of Jessica Wakefield and Johnny Depp's delightful face. They were good. But it wasn't all good clean fun with an hour (with commercials) resolution. I also like to have the crap scared out of me with Point Horror books. And lo' RSVP Or Die appeared.
The last year didn't really show much in the way of updates. But one of the most recent was The Cheerleader, one of my all time favorites. A mushroomy vampire gives a sociopathic (but not sociopathic enough) anger challenged teenager popularity in exchange for her friends. Amazing.
A more recent piece of nostalgia I indulge in more and more is the BBC Radio 2 live stream. The breadth of music is marvellous and the late night DJs tend to be irreverent and a bit grumpy. Richard Allinson is on now, who I really like because he mentioned me on the radio a couple times (see, 12.) But I also tune in for Mark Lamarr, Janis Long, Alan Carr and Alex Lester (though he's hit and miss for me.)
I always knew Radio 2 was going to be something I missed a lot when I moved. US radio isn't nearly as diverse, though they'd probably overplay that damned Enrique Iglesias song too and the DJs tend to be wooden, or offensive for the sake of it. And Vanilla Fudge is on it. (Real name is Fernella I believe, but I always misheard it as Vanilla. So, that's what I choose to believe.)
The past isn't always terrible.

I remember the first time I saw the X Files. I was like "Hey, that guy was the head police dude on 21 Jump Street!"
I know, omg. Lt Fuller!
Unrelated to anything, when and where is that trivia/quiz night thing you go to? I thought you said Tuesday but I didn't see any post about it.
It's Tuesdays at the New Old Lompoc! We're on for next week :)
